CipherSafe.NET™ Release Notes

The following changes reflect imporant modifications:

Version 1.5

• Allow application profiles of Web applications to be retrieved from the Application_Start event when running in the IIS 7 native mode.
• Fixed the missing version compatibility mode.

• Minor changes including explict definition of encryption padding mode (PKCS7).

• Added support for applications running in web hosting environment, such as WCF services runnning in IIS.
• Allow application profiles using configuration files to be accessed by hosted applications, such as WCF services runnning in IIS.

• Allow interoperability between applications running in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes on 64-bit Windows® (i.e. aplication profile can be accessed from both a 32-bit and a 64-bit process).

• Released 64-bit installer (for x64 platforms).

• Added support for several new command-line options to the console tool.

• Ported product to .NET Framework 2.0.

Version 1.4

• Corrected the GUI problem causing the "out of range" exception when saving changes in the Options dialog box with Key Manager option unchecked.
• Added the missing command-line utility to the installer.
• Corrected the problem causing an authorization exception for Web-based applications retrieving profile values.

• Corrected the problem causing the "error generating static machine key" exception under the high load.

• Added support for strong named assemblies.
Added drag-and-drop capability for copying profile values in CipherSafe.NET™ GUI.
• Added a command-line utility for performing such operations as product registration, exporting, importing, and re-encryption of applications profiles.
• Allow users to configure the CipherSafe.NET™ Key Manager service settings during installation.

Version 1.3

• Allowed Key Manager service to run as an unprivileged user.
• Fixed several minor GUI bugs.
• Support applications built with older versions of the CipherSafe™ library (post version 1.1).

• Fixed the bug causing the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when calling ApplicationProfile indexer for the current application under non-privileged context. Corrected typos in help file.
