Don’t worry. The good news is that you still have opportunity to get back files deleted permanently.
There are many reasons why data get lost. Human error is the leading cause of data loss as it is easy to accidentally delete and important file. Another possible reason is software upgrades that can mistakenly delete files from your machine. Furthermore, infection with virus or malware can lead to data loss.
When facing with data loss situations, there are several ways to get them back. However, the first move is to stop using the affected storage device as soon as possible when you discover a data loss. When the files are deleted, the operating system will mark its storage space as available for use. The deleted files will keep intact for a limited time until they get overwritten by new data. Thus, if you stop using the affected storage device immediately, it will minimize the chance of being overwritten.
It’s no wonder that you are more willing to recover deleted files without using any software. After all, you don’t want to waste time, effort and money testing a software you don’t know if it will work. Thus, you can try the following methods to get back your files.
When you delete a file in Windows, you may use either Delete key or Right-click on a file and select Delete. These deleted files will be removed to the recycle bin where you can restore them in just a few clicks.
Firstly, open the Recycle bin by double-clicking its icon and check whether the files you are looking for are there or not. Secondly, choose the files you want to recover. Finally, right-click on the files and select Restore to bring them back. Besides that, you can directly drag the lost files out of the recycle bin.
Another effective solution is to restore a previous version of your file. The steps are as follows:
Step 1. Open File Explorer
Step 2. Navigate to the file or folder which contained the deleted files
Step 3. Right-click and select Restore Previous versions from the menu
Step 4. Select the version you want to restore from the list provided by Windows
Step 5. Click the Restore button to get back your files
This method is pretty effective if there exists a previous version of the file on the disk. Newly created files may not be recoverable in this way.
